One of my pages about Baby Laila was in the March issue of Creating Keepsakes. The article is "The 4 Product Challenge." I didn't submit for this article. In October, one of the editors emailed me and asked if I'd like to participate. So of course, I said totally. They sent me the supplies and the rules. Rules: only use the supplies they gave me, a pen, a computer, photos, and scissors. Right. They sent me 2 pieces of cardstock, one sheet of paper with sporty words all over it, and some arrow stickers. I had no boy or sporty pictures to use. Oh, and they wanted the page in a week. It was quite possibly the hardest assignment I've ever been given.
I redid the page three or four times before they were happy with it.
But they were awesome to work with through out Gave me feedback through the whole process, constructive critcism, etc.
And here is the end result that was published:
Crazy different isn't it? But I much prefer this form of publication. With blind submitting, I'm just sending in my work, hoping they like it, and if it never gets picked up I don't know why. But with assignments, they tell me what they want. And that rocks.
So for my non scrapbooking fam and friends who always have lots of questions about it, there is a little insight!
